Celebrating the Season Together

By Michael E. McRae

As Christmas draws near, the holiday season invites us to pause and reflect on what matters most: family, community, and connection. At St. Ann’s Community, these values guide everything we do, not only during the holidays, but throughout the year.

Our residents live in a variety of settings, including cottage homes, comfortable apartments, assisted living neighborhoods, and nursing homes. We also serve older adults through our adult day programs, the Leo Center for Caring, transitional care, and our wound healing center. Each person brings their own story, traditions, and spirit to our community, and it is our privilege to support them in living fully and meaningfully, no matter their stage of life.

The holidays can be especially meaningful for older adults. For many, this season offers an opportunity to reconnect with loved ones, share cherished traditions, and create new memories with friends throughout the community. We work every day to ensure that no one feels isolated, whether through festive meals, holiday décor, music, or simply a friendly visit and conversation.

This year, our staff has gone above and beyond to plan activities and events that foster joy and togetherness, while honoring each resident’s personal preferences and comfort. From small gatherings to holiday concerts, every effort is made to bring warmth, laughter, and companionship to all.

The holiday season also reminds us of the importance of kindness, patience, and gratitude. Our team members embody these values daily as they help residents maintain independence, celebrate milestones, and feel truly at home.
