New FOOD FIGHT champion announced at benefit event for residents of St. Ann’s Community

St. Ann’s Community held its signature fundraising event, FOOD FIGHT – An Epic Culinary Competition, on Friday, September 13th at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center. The event was enjoyed by over 450 guests and by the residents of St. Ann’s Community who watched the event unfold live onscreen from the comfort of their homes at Chapel Oaks in Irondequoit and Cherry Ridge in Webster.

Money raised at FOOD FIGHT supports Annie’s Angel Fund which provides quality-of-life activities for St. Ann’s Home residents with limited financial means. The Angel Fund makes possible such things as lunch out with friends, tickets to a baseball game, a trip to the hair salon, and other simple pleasures to enrich the lives of St. Ann’s long-term care residents.

FOOD FIGHT featured one of St. Ann’s own executive chefs, along with three local chefs, each competing in a 30-minute cooking challenge to make an entrée from mystery ingredients. The winner of the 2019 competition is Michael Macri, Certified Executive Chef at Genesee Valley Club in Rochester, who was crowned FOOD FIGHT Champion for wowing our panel of distinguished judges with an entrée comprising of lobster, dragon fruit, Fritos chips and horseradish root. Todd Klugh, Executive Chef of St. Ann’s Community at Chapel Oaks in Irondequoit, was crowned the ‘People’s Choice Award’ winner for a second year.

St. Ann’s Community thanks our Presenting Sponsor, Daisy Marquis Jones Foundation, for making it possible to bring the event to the St. Ann’s residents live and onscreen. In addition to our guests, volunteers and Presenting Sponsor, we would like to thank all of the local businesses who joined us with their corporate support.
