Guidance for Visitation in Skilled Nursing & Assisted Living – 7.10.20

Dear St. Ann’s Community Family,

We are thrilled to share with you that Governor Cuomo has just released guidance for visitation in both skilled nursing homes and assisted living facilities under certain circumstances.  The guideline does not allow for any visitation immediately.  The earliest possible date for reopening is July 15th, 2020.

Important points of this guidance are noted below:

• The facility must be free of any COVID-19 illness in residents and staff for 28 days
• Visitation should be mainly outdoors
• Visitation can only include 10% of the facility population at one time
• Residents can have 2 visitors at a time only
• Visitors must wear all PPE and go through the screening process
• The facility must submit a plan for visitation that must be approved

Given these stipulations, we believe that the following applies to each of our care communities:
• St. Ann’s Home/Wegman Care Center:  the earliest visitation could occur is 9/11/20 due to a positive staff COVID-19 case on 8/14/20
• St. Ann’s Care Center: the earliest visitation could occur is 8/26/20 due to a positive staff COVID-19 case on 7/29/20
• The Glen and Rainier Grove assisted living: the earliest visitation could occur is 8/26/20 due to a positive staff COVID-19 case on 7/29/20

It is very important to note that these dates will change with any case in a resident or a staff member.  In addition, visitation will be suspended if there is a case identified in either a staff member or resident.

We are so pleased that the state is looking towards a reopening plan, and we will continue to work with the state to allow safe visits as soon as possible. The following link provides more detailed information. We will be spending a lot of time reviewing this on Monday’s COVID-19 call:
